OUTREACH
We seek to engage our community and beyond through service and financial contributions, corporately as a church. But also, many of our parishioners individually assist in various community organizations and projects as volunteers -- in schools as tutors mentors and coaches, with the Little League, in assisted living homes for elders, soup kitchens, as well as local charities.
Currently, we are involved with Bethlehem House, Abandoned Babies and Children in Kenya, East Africa; Buen Pastor Community Center in San Pedro, the DR; and want to grant at least one scholarship to Bromley Mission, an all-girls school in Liberia, West Africa, among others.
A cake Sale is being planned for Saturday, September 25 at the Frederiksted K-MART to raise funds for the scholarship.
Recently the Parish Outreach Committee met to reorganize and breathe new life into our outreach efforts. A brochure detailing these and other efforts can be viewed here.
TO KNOW GOD IN CHRIST AND MAKE HIM KNOWN
IS OUR MISSION
EDUCATION AND FORMATION PROGRAMS
1.Sunday School for ages 4-15, held at 9:00 a.m. There are four age groups, with older youth as helpers. We are recruiting additional volunteers.
2.Confirmation Program - At the moment we are using "Making Disciples," a mentor/student based program, using parents, grandparents and other adults in the congregation as mentors to the young people.
3.Adult Formation will include week-day Bible studies, and topical discussions on Sundays between worship services.
The anticipated restructuring exercise will put in place a Parish Education and Formation Coordinator who will oversee implementation of the various curricula and recruit and supervise volunteers. The Coordinator will be responsible to the rectory.
The photos below are from the Sunday worship Service culminating our 198th Anniversary and Patronal Festival, on January 24 this year. The Vestry, delegates to Diocesan Convention, new liturgical assistants, acolytes and ushers were commissioned by the Bishop of the Diocese.
